Itinerary 8 days/ 7 nights: Porto to Barcelona

San Sebastián

1st Day: Porto

The trip begins by meeting at our hotel in Porto, from where we will depart for a full-day tour of Porto, visiting Porto’s historic districts, the Palacio de la Bolsa and many more beautiful destinations. We will visit a Port wine cellar, where we will taste the local wines and also take a short cruise on the Duoro River.

We will also enjoy a traditional Portuguese cuisine lunch at a local restaurant. In the evening, we have organized a dinner with a traditional Portuguese fado show.

2nd Day: Vigo - Santiago de Compostela

This day we will travel to Spain. Our first stop will be Vigo, where we will have the opportunity to taste different Galician wines and visit a mussel raft.

After a brief visit, we will continue on our way to Santiago de Compostela, where we will check into our hotel for the night.

3rd Day: Santiago de Compostela

At 10:00 a.m, we will get on board the Al Andalus Train at the Santiago de Compostela station, where we will be received and registered in our rooms on this luxury train.

Later, we will go out to visit Santiago de Compostela and then we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will continue our visit and finally, we will return to the train to have dinner on board, while we arrive at Monforte de Lemos.

The train will be parked in Monforte de Lemos at night to facilitate rest.

4th Day: Ribera Sacra - Astorga

This day, after breakfast, we will visit the Ribera Sacra, we will cross the Sil River in a catamaran and then, we will visit one of the wineries in the region.

Lunch will be on board the train when we arrive in Astorga. This city is well known for its historical monuments, its walls (national monument); the Gothic cathedral (1471), with Plateresque and Baroque decorations; the 18th century Town Hall; and the 19th century Episcopal Palace, designed by Antonio Gaudí.

After a brief visit to Astorga and dinner, we will return to the comfort of our rooms on board the train.

5th Day: León - Burgos

After breakfast, we will visit the city of León, on the Bernesga River in northwestern Spain, also capital of the León Province. This city is home to many churches and a cathedral noted for their architecture and art. Among them is the 13th-century Gothic Cathedral of León, with its towers and flying buttresses, and the 10th-century Romanesque Basilica of San Isidoro, known for its frescoes and royal tombs.

We will enjoy lunch on board the train upon arrival in Burgos, a beautiful city located in Castilla y León. Burgos was selected as the “Spanish Capital of Gastronomy” in 2013. In 2015, it was named “City of Gastronomy” by UNESCO. We will take a guided tour of the city.

We will end the day in Burgos with a delicious dinner and accommodation in our luxury train.

6th Day: Burgos - Logroño

Later a delicious breakfast, we will go to the Museum of Human Evolution, located on the south bank of the Arlanzón River, about 16 kilometers west of the impressive Sierra de Atapuerca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There we can see the most relevant human fossils on the planet.

Then, we will board the train to Logroño, while we enjoy a nice lunch. Finally, we will move to Elciego (Eltziego), where we will visit the famous “Bodega del Marqués de Riscal”. We will have the opportunity to taste its excellent wines and visit this impressive 21st century castle that was designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry. A masterpiece of art and architecture with a privileged location in the so-called “City of Wine”.

In the city of Logroño, we will take a special  dinner a board our train.

7th Day: Zaragoza - Barcelona

Early this morning, we will move to Zaragoza, while we enjoy breakfast on board the train. Once in Zaragoza, we will take a panoramic city tour, we will visit the Plaza del Pilar and the Alfajería Palace.

We will have lunch on board while we head to our last destination, in the city of Barcelona, ​​where we will leave the train and our guide will take us to our hotel, after a panoramic tour of the city. Our luggage will arrive at the hotel where we will spend the night.

We have a special dinner at a local restaurant as a farewell.

1st Day: Barcelona - Zaragoza

At 10:00 am, we will receive you in the reception area of ​​the hotel. This is the perfect time to get to know each other, as you will all be traveling together for the next week. Before departure, we will enjoy a panoramic tour of Barcelona. Barcelona is famous for its stunning architecture, lively nightlife, sandy beaches and world-class cuisine, vibrant cultural heritage and colorful cultural festivals that attract visitors from all over the world. 

Lunch is served on board as the train heads towards its first stop, Zaragoza, the fifth largest city in Spain. Zaragoza has a lot to offer visitors, from fascinating museums to grand cathedrals and fortresses. Visit the beautiful Plaza del Pilar, home to the Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar and the Alfajería Palace, a magnificent fortification dating back to the 11th century. Free time.

We will perform dinner and accommodation aboard the Al Andalus Luxury Train in Zaragoza.

2nd Day: La Rioja - Burgos

On our second day, we will have breakfast on board while the train arrives in Logroño. We will move to Elciego (Eltziego), where we will visit the famous Bodega del Marqués de Riscal, known for its spectacular shapes and silhouette. We will learn the process of making wine, followed by a wine tasting and a tour of this impressive 21st century Chateau, which was designed by the internationally renowned architect Frank Gehry and is a true masterpiece, with an excellent location in «The City of Wine». We will lunch on board while the train travels to Burgos, named “City of Gastronomy” by UNESCO.

Then, we will take a guided tour of Burgos. We will visit the old Gothic Cathedral, which is the resting place of a famous Spanish knight. We will enjoy free time in the afternoon, which will allow you to delve into the history of Burgos.

We will have dinner and accommodation in Burgos.

3rd Day: Burgos - León

We will breakfast on board the train. In the morning, we will have the pleasure to visit the unique Museum of Human Evolution, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The collections include more than 200 original fossils. We will enjoy a delicious lunch on board as the train moves to Astorga, famous for its rich medieval heritage and its special location.

It is located at the crossroads of the pilgrim routes Camino de Santiago and Ruta de la Plata. At this time, we will have free time.

Tonight, we will have dinner and sleep aboard in Astorga.

4th Day: León - Monforte de Lemos

In our fourth day, we will breakfast on board. We will start with a panoramic tour of Astorga and the city of León. To continue, we will visit the famous León Cathedral and the 10th century Basilica of San Isidoro. We will make a stop to eat on board while the train transfers guests to Monforte de Lemos, home of the Ribeira Sacra, also known as the Sacred Coast.

The town of Monforte de Lemos is surrounded by other beautiful towns in the Ribeira Sacra. We will navigate the River Sil in a Catamaran, which offers stunning views of the natural world of Galicia and hundreds of hillsides with vineyards, waiting to be turned into wine. We will discover an exquisite wine cellar, where we will learn the local wine traditions.

To end the day, we will have a rest to dinner and we will come back to our Suite Deluxe in Monforte de Lemos.

5th Day: Santiago de Compostela - Vigo

We will take energy with our breakfast on board in order to change of transport to a comfortable air-conditioned coach that will head to Santiago de Compostela. We will discover Santiago de Compostela on foot. Santiago de Compostela’s historic quarter is among the most elegant in Spain, dotted with graceful monasteries, impressive churches, and historic palaces.

Its magnificent Gothic architecture and quaint cobbled streets are definitely worth exploring. This famous pilgrimage site in northwestern Spain became a symbol in the fight of Spanish Christians against islam. The great heart of Santiago, the Cathedral of Santiago, towers over the city in a splendid jumble of towers and sculptures.

After lunch, the deluxe tour continues south to Europe’s largest fishing port, Vigo. We will visit Vigo, the largest city in Galicia and with the best quality of life. Dinner will take place in one of the most exquisite restaurants in Vigo, with a tasting menu designed exclusively for the passengers on this trip.

Also, we will spend the night in this city.

6th Day: Vigo - Oporto

In our sixth day of trip, we will have breakfast at the hotel. Along the way, we will visit the famous Rias Baixas wine region and a unique oyster farm.

Later, we will arrive in Porto.

Once there, dinner is served in one of the most famous restaurants in the city to spend the night in a luxury hotel in Porto.

7th Day: Oporto

After starting the day with a good breakfast at the hotel, we will continue the day with a Porto Sightseeing Tour including visit to a Port Wine Cellar with Tasting, Epic Cruise on the Douro River. Our lunch for this day will serve at a local restaurant with traditional Portuguese cuisine.

For its part, dinner and once-in-a-lifetime show of Fado, the traditional Portuguese dance.

We will sleep again in Porto.

8th Day: Oporto

On the last day of our trip, we will have breakfast at the hotel. Later, we will end this wonderful experience, expecting that you take with you unforgettable memories and maybe with a new friend or two.

  3. Receive confirmation of your reservation within 24-48 hours, with all the necessary documentation and essential information for your trip.
  4. Before 95 days of the train departure, you must formalize the remaining 85 % of the payment.
